Assemblyman
David R. Mayer of Gloucester Township was elected to represent
the 4th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly
on November 4, 2003 and served two terms ( 2004- 2008 ) .
Mr. Mayer, 41, has worked in public service for more than 15 years,
most recently serving as Chief of Staff to Camden County Clerk James
Beach from 1995 to 2003. He also was elected to the Gloucester
Township Council in May 2002, a position he resigned from in 2003 to
focus on his legislative campaign.
Born February 28, 1967, in Philadelphia, Mayer has a B.A. in psychology
from Rutgers-Camden, a Masters Degree in public policy and administration,
and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers-Camden School of Law.
Mr. Mayer's public career began as an aide for former-Camden County
Freeholder Director Robert E. Andrews. He went on to work on Andrews'
successful congressional campaign in 1990 and served as director of
the Congressman's district office from 1990 to 1995. He also has taught
courses in political science at Camden County College and in public
administration at Rutgers University-Camden and Rowan University.
He and his wife, Della, have two children: Bryan and Amanda.
